Thierry Henri Philippe Baudet (born 28 January 1983) is a Dutch politician, academic and author. He is the founder and leader of Forum for Democracy (FVD), and has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2017.
Have I been “radicalised”? That’s what people have been saying about me recently. It's what the newspapers have been writing and what in turn the pundits have regurgitated. They allege my opinions have become “more extreme” and supposedly the party line has altered. But have I changed? I don’t think I have. Not for a minute.
The ideas of the British philosopher Roger Scruton (1944-2020) formed the basis of Forum for Democracy’s agenda. In this ode to his mentor, Thierry Baudet recollects his fondest memories and summarizes Scruton’s central ideas.
