Forum for Democracy has joined Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN), the new European party led by Germany's AfD. In line with its vision for the Netherlands, FVD will push for an immigration freeze and an effective remigration policy at the European level. FVD joins new European party with German AfD

‘You can choose any colour so long as it is grey,’ seems to be the motto of contemporary European politics. As Mike Benz has explained in his numerous videos, the West decided about ten years ago that democracy is no longer about process – parties compete in elections and the best one wins – but instead about outcomes and ‘institutions’. If those institutions seem threatened (or, more precisely, the careers of those who work in them) then democracy is said to be in danger. FVD International’s director, John Laughland, was interviewed on RT this week about the political Rubik’s cube into which Emmanuel Macron has thrown France. Whichever way he twiddles the parliamentary arithmetic, he cannot find a prime minister. An impeachment procedure has been launched against him which has no chance of succeeding. But if he cannot appoint a prime minister, he may decide to resign – and then stand again for his own re-election. Starmer is also like Kamala Harris: both made their careers as prosecutors and Starmer certainly seems keen to bang up his political opponents now that he is in Number 10. The original article was published on fvd.nl on 15 August. It has recently been announced that Germany has issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian national suspected of blowing up the Nord Stream underwater gas pipelines in 2022. It was initially suggested that Russia had sabotaged the gas pipelines, despite the fact that Moscow could simply turn off the gas tap, without destroying its own billion-dollar project. Now it appears to have been a Ukrainian operation, carried out with President Zelensky's approval.The current Dutch defence minister, Ruben Brekelmans, also initially claimed Putin was behind the sabotage. Now that it is becoming clear that the perpetrator is probably an (apparent) ally of the Netherlands, Forum for Democracy wants clarification on the geopolitical situation that has arisen. Therefore, FVD MP Pepijn van Houwelingen is submitting parliamentary questions.&nbsp;Van Houwelingen's questions to minister Brekelmans can be read below.1) Is it correct that Minister Brekelmans in September 2022 (in his capacity as a member of parliament) claimed the following in response to the attack on Nord Stream: ‘But I think the reaction now is mainly that we should not be intimidated by this action by Russia, and make it clear that this is not acceptable for Europe.’?2) Does Minister Brekelmans still believe that Russia blew up Nord Stream? If so, why?3) Is Minister Brekelmans still)of the opinion that blowing up Nord Stream is not acceptable to Europe? If no, why not?4) Does the minister agree or disagree with this Tweet sent by Ursula Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, on 27 September 2022: ‘Any deliberate disruption of active European energy infrastructure is unacceptable &amp; will lead to the strongest possible response.’?5) Does the Netherlands government consider that blowing up vital infrastructure by a state actor is an ‘act of aggression’ towards the Netherlands? If not, why not?6) Is the attack (by a state actor) on Nord Stream considered by the Dutch government as ‘an act of aggression’? If no, why not?7) As far as the minister is concerned, does it make sense to provide military and other support to countries involved in attacks on infrastructure vital to the Netherlands?8) When did the Dutch intelligence services (and thus the government) know about Ukraine's involvement in the Nord Stream attack?9) Or does the government still deny Ukraine's involvement in this attack?10) Why was information about Ukraine's involvement in the Nord Stream attack not shared with the House of Representatives?11) What does Ukraine's involvement in the Nord Stream attack mean for the (military) support Ukraine receives from the Netherlands?12) Does Ukraine have the (military) capacity to carry out an attack on Nord Stream without support from other countries?13) Was Prime Minister Rutte (or any other member of the government or the Dutch intelligence services) aware in advance of the attack on Nord Stream?14) Can the minister answer these questions separately and within three weeks?

Ukrainian suspected of Nord Stream attack. FVD’s MP Pepijn Van Houwelingen asks defence minister parliamentary questions

The definition of a conspiracy theory is that it is a visionary analysis of an obscure situation by intelligent people, which turns out to be true and becomes widely accepted many years after the event. The original visionaries are often not credited for their perspicacity. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, has just validated this rule in a letter addressed to the Judiciary Committee of the US House of Representatives. He confirms the truth of two ‘conspiracy theories’ which have been energetically dismissed as disinformation for four years – not only that the US government pressured Facebook to censor Covid discussions and news about Hunter Biden’s laptop but also that Facebook gave in to this pressure and did censor its platform. Facebook also facilitated what turned out to be fraud in the 2020 US presidential election. Zuckerberg regrets his decisions and has resolved not to repeat them but these revelations demonstrate how deep the links are between the deep state and specifically the Democratic Party: the Hunter Biden laptop story was dismissed by 50 so-called intelligence experts and officers but it was true. FVD was the <a href="https://fvdinternational.com/article/the-americans-did-it">first</a> to allege that the Americans were responsible – a view dismissed as ‘<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHnkNNar1eE">total nonsense</a>’ by the then Dutch prime minister, Mark Rutte, in a reply to Thierry Baudet in Parliament last year. Now German prosecutors have issued a warrant against a Ukrainian for blowing up the pipelines and so the whole idea that this is ‘nonsense’ comes crashing down. It does not make any material difference whether it was a Ukrainian or the Americans because both are our allies, whereas the initial (absurd) claim was that the Russians had blown up their own multi-billion dollar infrastructure. Facebook has expressed regret over the censorship it practised during Covid.In a statement by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the platform also says it regrets having been misled by disinformation coming from the US Deep State (including the FBI) - designed to give Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden an electoral advantage over his rival Donald Trump in 2020.Factually accurate analyses, including on the Biden family's dubious links with Ukrainian off-shoring company Burisma, were strictly banned on Facebook, but, according to Zuckerberg, ‘The reporting was not Russian disinformation’ as the FBI and 50 intelligence experts had claimed.In his letter of 26 August 2024, addressed to the US Congress, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that in the future he would no longer be guided by (apparently untrustworthy) government actors but instead wanted to restore the politically-neutral nature of the platform.Although this comes all very late, and although one might doubt the sincerity of his ‘repentance’, we should welcome and embrace this statement by Zuckerberg. The censorship which has descended across the board in the Western world since Covid must stop.With Telegram CEO Pavel Durov thrown in jail for refusing to allow secret services access to his messaging platform, and Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovksi fleeing Europe because he feared the same tyrannical measures against him and his uncensored streaming platform, this post on Facebook's new policy offers a very welcome counterpoint.Never in history has censorship been applied by those who had the truth on their side or were sincerely seeking it. Those who dare to face reality with an open mind, those who really want to know how things work, which interests come into play and what is best for the country, the people and society as a whole, have nothing to fear from critical questions, &nbsp;comments, remarks or research.How nice it would be if Dutch mainstream journalists also engaged in similar critical self-reflection - and following Facebook's lead, now reconsider the censorship they have instituted on Covid, vaccines, Ukrainian corruption and Hunter Biden's laptop, among others.Our democracy needs nothing so intensely as open debate in a spirit of humility and self-criticism. &nbsp;<figure class="image"><img src="/uploads/image_a4bed4d032.png"></figure>

Facebook expresses regret over censorship during Covid

Thierry Baudet visited Budapest again recently, a city which has welcomed him repeatedly over the last year. He was there to discuss the foundation of the new pan-European political party, Europe of Sovereign Nations, which will be based on the newly created group in the European Parliament. He also gave a speech at the offices of our sister party, Mi Hazank (Our Homeland) about his book, the Covid Conspiracy, which was translated into Hungarian last year and which has been a roaring success. Thierry mainly focused on what the Covid crisis tells us about politics – that politicians are in office but not in power and that politics therefore has only limited possibilities for changing things for the better. The broadcast and the interview are in French. John emphasised two issues: first, the fact that the initial riots were an understandable expression of anger at the murder of three little girls by the British-born son of immigrants, but that they elicited a brutal reaction from Keir Starmer, a former chief prosecutor who spectacularly failed to ‘read the room’ and whose authority is now severely undermined by his reaction. Young Englishmen have been given long prison sentences for Tweets, while Pakistani gangs roam the country with knives, largely unpoliced. The German government tried brutally to close this important alternative news outlet (40,000 copies sold in kiosks every month, millions of viewers on Youtube) by using the law on associations which allows clubs to be closed down. But Compact Magazin is a commercial company and a media company at that. Luckily, the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig threw out the government’s emergency measures (scores of policemen turned up at the editor’s house at 6 o’clock in the morning) and the magazine can start operating again, while the government’s substantial case against it will take years to hear. Mencius Moldbug: The Second Coming

The consequences of the aggressive decision to close down the magazine, taken by Federal Interior Minister, Nancy Faeser, were halted, for the time being, by the Federal Administrative Court in a ruling on 14 August. In the following commentary, Maike Gosch explains why this victory for freedom of the press and freedom of opinion should not leave us completely relaxed and what needs to be done next.&nbsp;Yesterday at midday, 14 August 2020,&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/JurgenElsasser/status/1823683323161432353">Jürgen Elsässer announced</a> that the Federal Administrative Court had&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bverwg.de/de/pm/2024/39">partially suspended</a> the enforcement of the government’s attempt to close down Compact Magazin. Compact Magazin GmbH had previously been banned by the Ministry of the Interior.&nbsp;Immediate enforcement had been ordered, which means that the ban was initially enforceable until a proper judicial clarification in the main proceedings (which is certainly not expected for another 2 to 3 years). The parties concerned appealed both against the main proceedings and also against the immediate enforcement. The urgent application has now been granted. The fact that the decision was only ‘partial’ does not refer to the content of the ban, but to the fact that there were other applicants in addition to the Public Limited Company and Jürgen Elsässer personally who also submitted applications (referred to as ‘members’ in the court's press release, presumably the employees), which were rejected.This defeat of Ms Faeser, and of the Ministry of the Interior and Home Affairs, was rightly celebrated online as a victory for press freedom. I must also say that I breathed a sigh of relief when I read the news. I had hoped that this would be the outcome because, in my opinion, our free and democratic basic order would have been dealt a significant blow if the court had ruled differently. Mr Elsässer and his team can now resume their work.&nbsp; The money, as well as the laptops, tables, chairs and all the tools that were confiscated with German thoroughness in the large-scale operation must now be returned - unless they are still needed for the evaluation.However, the joy over this decision is not entirely unclouded.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bverwg.de/de/pm/2024/39">Unfortunately, the court also stated the following</a>:‘Although there are no objections to the applicability of the Associations Act to the applicant no. 1, which is organised in the legal form of a limited liability company and operates as a press and media company, there is every indication that the prohibition order is formally lawful.’What is meant here is that the law on associations also applies to a limited liability company which publishes magazines or newspapers. Unfortunately, however, the court has not addressed the delicate question of the application of the law on associations to circumvent press law regulations and the legal system in relation to press and media products, which are intended specifically to protect and safeguard freedom of the press and freedom of opinion in Germany.&nbsp; I hope it will do so in the main proceedings, or at the latest before the Federal Constitutional Court, should it come to that. However, I consider this point to be central. Professor Ulrich Vosgerau from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.alexander-wallasch.de/gesellschaft/das-sagt-staatsrechtler-ulrich-vosgerau-er-ist-der-joker-im-compact-anwaltsteam">Jürgen Elsässer's and the Compact GmbH</a>’s legal team also expressed similar thoughts. We cannot rest easy yet.The decision was founded on the lack of proportionality of the ban, and on the existence of possible milder means such as press and media law measures against individual articles, event bans, etc. &nbsp;It was also founded on the fact that the Compact Magazin’s interest in the suspension of the order outweighs the public interest in immediate enforcement. Fortunately, the special weight of the fundamental rights to freedom of opinion and freedom of the press was at least mentioned and taken into account in this consideration.Since this court decision, there have been increasing calls on X and in the alternative media for the Interior Minister to resign, but I do not expect her to do so, even though Wolfgang Kubicki from the coalition partner FDP has&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/KubickiWo/status/1823719003224719768">suggested</a> that she do so. If there is one thing we have learnt during the time in office of the current government, it is the incredible persistence of its ministers and the incredibly timid restraint of the Federal Chancellor, who does not sack them no matter how serious their misconduct. In earlier times, what many current members of the government have done in recent years would have been enough to make them resign ten times over. One can only assume that a kind of ‘domino theory’ is being held here, i.e. the concern that if a single resignation is allowed, the whole team could topple like dominoes one after the other.But back to us, the citizens. What do we make of what is happening? Yesterday, I actually had a very optimistic thought: what if this crisis of freedom of expression and freedom of the press in which we find ourselves in Germany also harbours an opportunity? For me, as a West German, we have been living in a kind of ‘supervised’ democracy in Germany since the Second World War. We have always had the feeling democracy was given to us and that we did not fight for it ourselves, as the East Germans did in 1989. 1990 was such an opportunity to really make it our own, to fill it with even more life. We squandered this opportunity - or it was taken away from us.A large majority of us perhaps also took freedom of opinion and freedom of the press for granted for far too long. We did not think we had to fight for it. We largely left the protection of our democracy and fundamental rights to the state. Since the coronavirus crisis, many people have realised that this does not work anymore and have stood up for our fundamental rights with great courage and at great risk. The media, politicians and large sections of the population have ridiculed and mocked them for this. But now more and more people are slowly realising that they were right.There is a great speech by U.S. dissident Ehren Watada, a former Army officer who refused the order to deploy to Iraq because he (rightly) believed it was an immoral and illegal war of aggression and was threatened with prison for doing so. In this&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cs4YUiQ-DI">speech</a> he said the following words:“Democracy is not a spectator sport. In a Democracy, everyone is a politician.“I remember feeling something like a surge of energy while listening to him say this in 2007, and at the same time realising how little what he was describing corresponded to my perception - and that of many fellow citizens - of the political atmosphere in Germany.Perhaps these attacks on freedom of speech and the press, which have been increasing and intensifying, are an opportunity for even more of us to get up from our spectator seats and take our place on the pitch. In my opinion, this tightening of measures is also the result of great fear and excessive demands on the part of politicians who, perhaps because of our passivity, have been left too much alone with the great task of shaping, living and protecting our democracy.The German government recently&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/pressemitteilungen/DE/2024/05/strategie-gegen-extremismus-pm.html">adopted</a> the strategy ‘Together for democracy and against extremism’. That's a good thing, I say. That's how it should be. But not as an initiative that works from the top down, as is currently the case and excludes large sections of the population, labelling them as extremists. But rather as a task that we as citizens fulfil ourselves. In the Olympic spirit I’d say: ‘Let the Games begin!’
