FVD’s founder and president, Thierry Baudet, FVD Senator Eric Kemperman and FVD International’s director, John Laughland, spoke at the recent Patriots Network conference in Bucharest. Thierry spoke on a panel about energy and the conversation turned to the green movement. Thierry wondered out loud whether the green movement was a front organisation for US interests. Oddly enough, without any consultation, John Laughland had made the same speculation the previous week at an ESN Study Day in Madrid. Thierry pointed out that the anti-growth agenda had begun back in the 1970s with the Club of Rome, whose members had been the first to speak at the first meeting of the World Economic Forum, an organisation created by Klaus Schwab, a protégé of Henry Kissinger. Whether there is a true conspiracy there or not is difficult to know. But what is certain is that our adversaries know how to create eco-systems and echo-chambers which have amplified and entrenched their message into the political establishment for decades. We must do the same.

Klaus Schwab’s big idea is the fourth industrial revolution – a sort of transhumanist fantasy in which human nature will be transformed by new technology and AI. In his speech to the Patriots Network, Eri Kemperman laid out the terrifying implications of this. AI is about control – it is about encouraging people to outsource their thoughts to a machine. This means that whoever controls the machine – the algorithms, the information – will ultimately control thought itself, as some of the WEF gurus claim they soon will be able to do. FVD prefers real intelligence to artificial intelligence – and also tries to embody it.

For his part, John Laughland reminded the Patriots Network conference of the basic incompatibility between the European Union and national sovereignty. The EU was from the very beginning a federal project and it has only become more centralised with the passing of time. In recent years, it has imposed the superiority of EU ‘law’ even over national constitutional law and national constitutional courts. It is difficult to imagine a clearer violation of sovereignty. Many political parties believe that it is possible to change the EU from within but this is not FVD’s view. Exit is the only strategy.

The formidable Scott Ritter was our guest on The Forum this week. His predictions are breathtaking – a fake victory for Trump in the run-up to this year’s mid-terms (‘I opened the strait’), to boost the economy; the long-term rise of Iran once sanctions are loosened; and a civil war in Israel once Netanyahu falls. If you missed it, watch back.
