Zelensky gave the green light for the Nord Stream attack

Earlier this year, FVD MPs Thierry Baudet and Pepijn van Houwelingen raised the question of the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines several times in the Lower House of the Dutch Parliament. Who was behind it? FVD immediately cast doubt on the implausible story that Russia would have blown up its own pipelines - to stop the gas supply, the Russians could have simply turned off the gas tap, so why would they destroy their own infrastructure?

However, the Dutch press and all other political parties were sure: Putin did it.   Anyone with reservations about this narrative was ‘bribed by the Kremlin’ to ‘spread Russian propaganda’.  This was in spite of the numerous indications that the Ukrainians, possibly in collaboration with, or at the behest of, the Americans, were behind this attack on our infrastructure.

For example, prior to the Nord Stream attack, President Biden said at a press conference that ‘there would no longer be a Nord Stream pipeline’. ‘We will put an end to it,’ the US president continued.

International arrest warrant
FVD’s requests for debates and motions in the Lower House on the matter were initially dismissed as unserious.  But then yesterday the first headlines appeared: ‘Was it Ukraine, after all?’

Investigations by German authorities have revealed that a six-member team of specialised Ukrainian soldiers carried out the bombings. An international arrest warrant has since been issued against the fugitives.

Zelensky gave approval
Four different sources have since confirmed that President Zelensky personally approved the operation. The plans, initially made at a get-together of key Ukrainian military officials, were worked out to sabotage the supply of gas to Europe from Russia. This would leave only one direct pipeline: across Ukrainian territory.

Cabinet position towards Ukraine
However, without objective considerations, in a haze of blind war mongering, the Western political order, including the Dutch cabinet, remained resolutely on the side of Ukraine. Billions of euros in aid, arms supplies - even a 10-year military agreement between the Netherlands and Ukraine.

FVD continues to advocate a neutral view of the conflict, with the aim of reaching a peace agreement. Factual information should no longer be brushed aside as ‘wrong views’. Moreover, the Dutch interest should be our top priority. Our country was a direct victim of the Nord Stream sabotage, given Gasunie's share in Nord Stream. Perhaps, with the knowledge of today, our cabinet could reconsider whether our support to the United States through this proxy war in Ukraine is really in the Dutch interest.
